OVERVIEW

The butterfly valve can be used to control the flow of various types of fluids such as air, water, steam, various corrosive media, mud, oil, liquid metal and radioactive media. The butterfly valve opening and closing part is a disc-shaped butterfly plate that rotates around its own axis in the valve body to achieve the purpose of opening, closing or regulating.

 

STRUCTURAL FEATURES

The butterfly valve has the characteristics of simple structure, small size, light weight, low material consumption, small installation size, fast switching, 90° reciprocating rotation, and small driving torque. It is used to cut off, connect, and adjust the medium in the pipeline, and has good fluid control characteristics and closing and sealing performance.

The valve stem is a through-stem structure, which has been tempered and has good comprehensive mechanical properties, corrosion resistance and abrasion resistance. When the butterfly valve is opened and closed, the valve stem only rotates but does not move up and down. The packing of the valve stem is not easy to be damaged and the seal is reliable. It is fixed with the cone pin of the butterfly plate, and the extended end is designed to prevent the valve stem from collapsing when the connection between the valve stem and the butterfly plate is accidentally broken.

 

The connection modes include flange connection, wafer connection, butt welding connection and lug wafer connection. CLASSIFICATIONS

According to the driving mode of the butterfly valve, the butterfly valve is divided into electric butterfly valve, pneumatic butterfly valve, hydraulic butterfly valve and manual butterfly valve. According to the difference in structural type, the butterfly valve is divided into centerline butterfly valve, single eccentric butterfly valve, double eccentric butterfly valve and triple eccentric butterfly valve.

 

1. Centerline butterfly valve: The valve stem axis, butterfly plate center and body center of the centerline butterfly valve are in the same position, with simple structure and convenient manufacturing. Common rubber lined butterfly valves belong to this category. Because the butterfly plate and the valve seat are always in a state of extrusion and scraping, the resistance distance is large and the wear is fast.

 

2. Single eccentric butterfly valve: In order to solve the extrusion problem of the butterfly plate and the valve seat of the concentric butterfly valve, a single eccentric butterfly valve was produced. Its structural feature is that the valve stem axis deviates from the center of the butterfly plate, so that the upper and lower ends of the butterfly plate no longer become the rotation axis, dispersed, and reduced the excessive extrusion of the upper and lower ends of the butterfly plate and the valve seat. Since the rotation center of the butterfly plate (i.e. the valve shaft center) and the butterfly plat.e sealing cross-section are set eccentrically, the butterfly plate sealing surface gradually separates from the valve seat sealing surface during the opening process of the butterfly valve. When the butterfly plate rotates to 20°~25°, the butterfly plate sealing surface completely separates from the valve seat sealing surface. When the butterfly plate is fully opened, a gap is formed between the two sealing surfaces. As a result, the relative mechanical wear and extrusion between the two sealing surfaces are greatly reduced during the opening and closing process of the butterfly valve, thereby ensuring the sealing of the butterfly valve.

3. The double eccentric butterfly valve, which is the most widely used one, is further improved on the basis of the single eccentric butterfly valve. Its structural feature is that the valve stem axis deviates from both the center of the butterfly plate and the center of the body. The double eccentric effect enables the butterfly plate to quickly separate from the valve seat after the valve is opened, greatly eliminating the unnecessary excessive extrusion and scraping between the butterfly plate and the valve seat, reducing the opening resistance, reducing wear, and increasing the life of the valve seat. Since the rotation center of the butterfly plate (i.e. the valve axis center) and the center line of the valve body are offset in size on the basis of the single eccentric butterfly valve, the sealing surface of the butterfly plate will separate from the valve seat sealing surface faster than the single eccentric sealing butterfly valve during the opening process of the butterfly valve. When the butterfly plate rotates to 8°~12°, the sealing surface of the butterfly plate completely separates from the valve seat seal. When it is fully opened, a larger gap is formed between the two sealing surfaces. The design of this type of butterfly valve greatly reduces the mechanical wear and crowding and pressure deformation between the two sealing surfaces, and improves the sealing performance of the butterfly valve.

4. To achieve high temperature resistance, metal seals must be used, but the leakage is large; to achieve zero leakage, soft seals must be used, but they are not resistant to high temperature. In order to overcome this contradiction of the double eccentric butterfly valve, the butterfly valve was eccentric for the third time. The so-called third eccentricity means that the shape of the sealing pair is not a positive cone, but an oblique cone.

 

Because the center line of the valve seat is offset from the center line of the valve body on the basis of the double eccentric butterfly valve, the sealing surface of the butterfly plate will immediately separate from the sealing surface of the valve seat at the moment of opening during the opening process of the butterfly valve, and will only contact and press the sealing surface of the valve seat at the moment of closing. When fully opened, a gap is formed between the two sealing surfaces, which is the same as that of the double eccentric sealing butterfly valve. The design of this type of butterfly valve completely eliminates the mechanical wear and abrasion between the two sealing surfaces, greatly improving the sealing performance and service life of the butterfly valve.
