Wedge gate valve: A gate valve in which the two sealing surfaces of the gate plate are wedge-shaped. The purpose of using a wedge shape is to increase the auxiliary sealing load and achieve sealing for both high and low media pressures. The valve body of the wedge gate valve is equipped with a guide mechanism (guide rib) to prevent the gate plate from rotating when opening or closing and ensure that the sealing surfaces of the gate plate and the valve seat are aligned accordingly. At the same time, the wedge gate valve does not rub against the valve seat before closing, thereby reducing wear on the sealing surface.
However, the wedge gate valve has the following disadvantages:
a. The sealing surface is easy to contain solid particles in the flowing medium;
b. Thermal expansion of the valve stem may overload the sealing surface
c. The gate plate cannot be provided with diversion holes.
The wedge gate structure can be divided into resilient single gate, wedge rigid single gate, wedge rigid double gate, etc.
