Quarter-Turn Electric Actuators Support Smart Valve Automation in Heavy Industrial Applications
As shown in the picture, the equipment is installed in a typical heavy industrial environment and connected to a large pipeline and industrial fan/conveying system. In such applications, butterfly valves, dampers and other 90° rotary devices often require remote ON/OFF operation or flow regulation. Therefore, quarter-turn electric actuators play an important role in industrial automation.
A quarter-turn electric actuator converts electrical energy into rotary torque through a motor and reduction mechanism, enabling 0–90° valve opening, closing and positioning. Compared with manual operation, electric actuators provide remote control, position feedback and automatic regulation. Depending on the application, they can be configured as ON/OFF, modulating or intelligent actuators. They are widely used in power generation, steel, mining, water treatment, chemical processing and environmental protection industries.
For large industrial applications, actuator selection should consider not only output torque, but also valve type, operating time, duty cycle, protection rating, mounting interface and site conditions. Standardized ISO 5211 mounting interfaces also make it easier to connect electric actuators directly to butterfly valves, ball valves and other quarter-turn valves.
With the continued development of industrial automation and remote control, quarter-turn electric actuators are moving toward higher torque, intelligent control, remote communication and enhanced environmental protection.
